Rowlock Sockets on Herself

Herself (sail no.1) has a few qualities that the later boats do not have. One of them is the she has rowlock sockets so she can be rowed. I cant say we have used these much but I keep meaning to find a tide when I can experiment with them.

Where we are in Burnham Overy Staithe in North Norfolk, England, in can be difficult to get back round a particular corner if the wind (or lack of) and tide are against you. I thought John would baulk at my suggestion to have oars, albeit very fine and discreet ones, but he is forever enthusiastic about my suggestions until they prove to be nonsense. The oars we land on however will have to particularly designed. The idea was always that you would face forward to row however the mast gets in the way. Taking down the mast is very straightforward however as we have no stays and, being made of carbon is extremely light weight. So... testing to be done before we reintroduce the idea into Mk 2 boats. I am convinced they might be useful. We will let you know as we experiment this winter.
